“Mental Health is a wonderful thing to have” …

Today we ask our good friend Geoff McDonald of Minds@Work what mental health means to him & how he looks after it.

“Mental health is a wonderful thing to have. When we are mentally healthy, we have amazing powers of concentration, focus, analysis, and are cognitively very alert.

I apply an acronym to my daily routines to keep me mentally fit – CANDO.

C – for connection: connect with friends, family, nature
A – I stay active as possible and do an activity most days
N – I try and be nice to people, so good for a sense of meaning and purpose, but also live a very purposeful life
D – discover learn something new everyday – be curious, so good for my neural pathways
O – spend time observing / recovering, being in the present 5 mins every 2 hours.

I dedicate up to 60 mins a day to all the aspects of CANDO – chunk it up into bite sized chunks that equate to 60 mins every day!”

Thank you Geoff – so great to have mental health!

Geoff is speaking at out event on Thursday 12th May (11.30am & it’s free) – it will be a cracker! If you want to come along, REGISTER HERE
